HerCreative Collab tells the stories of Black creative women the world overlooked, and brings their dreams to life. We fund the dream. We tell the story. We build the space where both can happen.
HerCreative Collab exists to break that silence.
We believe a story untold is a kind of loss, and a dream unbuilt is a kind of theft. So we do something about both. We put money in her hands so the dream can move. We turn a camera toward her so the story gets witnessed. We build a room where she can create alongside women who understand.
We are not here to be quiet about it. We are here to be bold. To say her name out loud, to make the work and show the work, and to refuse to let one more Black creative woman disappear before the world knew she was here.
This is storytelling as repair. This is funding as belief. This is a dream, brought to life, on the record.
I built the room I needed and couldn’t find
When I moved to Georgia from California I was postpartum, in a new city, with a blended family and a baby I loved and a fog I couldn’t name. I kept showing up. I kept performing fine. I smiled through all of it. And I quietly disappeared inside myself.
It wasn’t until I finally opened up to some of my older mom friends that I found out they had been there too. Same fog. Same silence. We could have been each other’s safe space years earlier if we had just said something.
That silence stayed with me. It became my first documentary film. I had no budget, no film school, nobody backing me. I had YouTube and a couple of friends who gave me pointers and something I needed to say. That film won six film festivals.
After the awards I sat with the real question. What do Black creative mothers do with all of this, the talent, the vision, the weight they are carrying, when there is no space built for them?
I looked for that space. I could not find it. So I built it.
HerCreative Collab is where Black creative mothers get resourced, not just recognized. Your story is told on your terms. A grant does not come with strings. Community does not mean performing wellness while you are quietly falling apart inside. This is where we say the thing out loud. Finally.
